The B2300 is a small pickup made by Mazda, with a
range of different engine variants and options. The association between
Mazda and Ford Motor Company has led the line of Mazda small trucks to be based
on the popular Ford Ranger design. The B2300 is the most economical Mazda entry
into the small pickup truck field. It is powered by a 2.3 liter I4 DOHC 16-valve
engine that produces 143 horsepower at 5250 RPM. There is a choice of 5 speed
manual or 5 speed automatic. There is only one body style, the regular
cab. It has room for three passengers on its standard bench front seat. The
2007 Mazda B2300 is a rear wheel drive truck; four wheel drive is not available. This is a very basic truck, but it does its job. It has all the
features you need, with out the extra luxury components. One new feature on the 2007 model is a tire
pressure monitoring system. There are also two new colors added in 2007: Pueblo
Gold and Vista Blue. This brings the total available colors up to eight.
Otherwise, the B2300 is a carryover from 2006. The B2300 has a 17 gallon capacity gas tank and gets good fuel mileage for a truck, in fact it is one of the
strongest buying points. The four cylinder engine's performance is the
biggest downside. The truck does 0-60 mph in 10.17 seconds. This Mazda
truck is perfect for those looking for a solid and affordable small truck that
is inexpensive to operate. It also maintains a good resale value and has an SE-5 Package that includes alloy wheels, a CD player, air conditioning and
carpeted floormats available . A cargo-bed extender is optional for the B2300.
Powertrain and Features
The engine in the 2007 B2300 is the same as in
the Ford Rangers. A 143-horsepower, 2.3-liter four-cylinder in the B2300 teams with
either a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed
automatic. Standard features across the board include front and rear mud
guards, tire pressure monitor, and four-wire trailer harness. An SE-5 package is
available on the B2300 that includes air conditioning, chrome front and rear
bumpers, floor mats, chrome grille, AM/FM Stereo with CD and MP3, speed control,
tilt steering wheel and alloy wheels.
B2300 Cabin
Mazda's 2007 B2300 model has a roomy cab with a
standard three-place front bench seat. The seats are fairly comfortable, and
occupants get a fold-down armrest. For organization purposes, there are
storage pockets that are installed on the seatbacks. Air conditioning is
optional in the B2300.
2007 Mazda B2300 Design
Mazda's B2300 pickup has a regular cab and a 6-foot
cargo bed. The B2300's front suspension consists of double wishbones with coil
springs and a stabilizer bar, while semi-elliptic leaf springs are installed in
the rear. The B2300 looks similar to Ford's Ranger, since they share parts and
design. The styling differences between these B-Series trucks and Ford's
Ranger are mostly with the design of the grille. The Mazda grille has horizontal
bars instead of Ford's egg-crate design. Regular-cab models ride a 111.6-inch
wheelbase, measure 187.5 inches long overall and have 15-inch wheels. Options on
the 2007 Mazda B2300include tubular side steps and a soft tonneau cover. There
are a variety of colors available.
Safety
Antilock brakes and front airbags are standard, and
a key-operated switch can deactivate the passenger-side airbag. Side-impact
airbags are not available. A tire pressure monitoring system is also standard
for 2007.
The 2007 Mazda B2300 truck comes in a regular-cab
with a 6-ft flat bed. It is rear-wheel driven, with no option of four wheel
drive. In the
cabin there is room for three passengers on the front bench seat. The Mazda
B2300 front suspension consists of double-wishbones with coil springs and a
stabilizer bar which all rides on 16-inch wheels. Power is delivered using a 143
hp 2.3-liter four-cylinder that is mated to a five-speed manual transmission or
optional five-speed automatic. For 2007, the Mazda B2300 is largely a
carryover with an added tire pressure monitoring system. This
Mazda truck is not for those looking for luxury, but for someone wanting an
affordable and reliable cargo hauler. It gets excellent mileage at 24 MPG
in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
